The Climate Dispatch will syndicate climate change news and youth stories and perspectives through existing campus news networks, providing content for print, radio, and online media outlets.
Building upon the extant global correspondent network that has been assembled through new media efforts by global youth climate networks, Fired Up international correspondents and student journalists will provide on-the-ground information, leads, content, print-quality photos, and audio clips that will stream to a virtual newsroom. Through this online newsroom, we will connect these correspondents to student journalists and editors at campus newspapers who will then collaborate on producing stories.
Selected stories and accompanying images will then be syndicated to a national newswire for distribution to campus newspapers, which will host the articles available for print, images, and the weekly podcast for radio broadcasters. Campus reporters will also be connected, through the digital newsroom, with global correspondents that can partner to develop both update and enterprise journalism on global issues around sustainability, development, and political change. In partnership with EarthBeat Radio, top newswire stories will be reported in media format and syndicated to campus and independent radio affiliates weekly.
We aim to establish a primary network with 150 correspondents in 15 countries in the first year of operation, expanding to 30 countries in the second year. Additionally, our goal is to train 100 new youth climate journalists to write and publish stories through the virtual newsroom.
